in with there is serial synchronicity.
Apr. 13th, 2007 10:18 ami had an incredible day yesterday. i can't quite describe how it feels to finally have what i'd consider a "full" day, again. :)
my apheresis appointment wasn't until 9:30 am, so i didn't set my alarm, but i woke up at 7:20 am. for some reason, i reached for my cel phone, and there was a text message from Christina asking me if i'd be willing to do a 3:30 pm deep tissue massage she had scheduled, before she realized the five deep tissue massages the day before had left her exhausted. i sent her a text back explaining that i had a blood donation scheduled, and that i'd know in a couple hours if i felt OK to work.
the thing is... my new cel phone doesn't vibrate when i get a text message; i haven't figured out how to set that, yet. and when i thought to check, her message had a time stamp of 7:19 am.
EDIT: ahhh. it does beep! very softly, but it just went off. mystery solved! :D
--
i crawled out of bed to meditate, grabbed some breakfast, and chatted with my mom for a quarter hour before running downtown and giving blood. although my movie choice was less than stellar (Kirsten Dunst's recent turn as Marie Antoinette), the donation went smoothly and the cookies were, as always, yummy.
i went back to the Cicero Panera and read for an hour or so until my coffee "date" showed up. we talked - an odd conversation that somehow semi-successfully mixed my life (massage therapy) and his (homeland security and fire fighting) - drank lots of java, and generally chilled until i had to go to work.

i had done about ten minutes of work on my first client, when he asked me if we could make the hour appointment into an hour and a half. since my arms and energy felt fine, i agreed, and finished around 5:20.
there was a message waiting on the answering machine. it had been left at 5:19, by a guy who said he'd just driven by and wondered if we had any openings, because other places he'd tried were booked up. i returned the call, leaving him a message that we had availability. as i was finishing my SOAP notes on the first client, the second called back and said "I'll be there in five minutes. I'm leaving now."
i probably don't have to explain the trepidation an LMT feels when someone is so eager to get a massage they say something like that.
it all made sense, though, once he explained his job and the back pain he was experiencing, and especially once i started working on his mid-thorax where he'd said the pain originated, and felt a rib that seemed twisted or possibly even out of joint. *wry grin*
the second client orginally wanted a half hour, but - again - within a few minutes of me starting, changed his mind and requested an hour. he had great energy, and when we discovered we both trained martial arts, i felt like he understood energy work, and how he could assist the process by moving his chi. the really amazing thing about the second client, however, was that he fell asleep on me halfway through, snoring-asleep. it was his first-ever massage, he knew i train goju and what that meant in terms of my ability to hurt him, and he fell asleep.
he said it was one of the most amazing experiences of his life, and you know... you just never get tired of hearing that. *blush* *beam*

when i got home i was exhausted, but i curled up on the couch next to my mother and just... exchanged love-energy.
i have a great life.

speaking of my mother, she told on me! she told my fairy godmother that when we're in the grocery store, i jump up on the back of the cart and coast down the aisles. how do i know this?
i got an email from Aunt Linda this morning. the subject line was "Riding on grocery carts..."
the body said "Ten to one we crash into each other in a parking lot some day."
