in which there are three days away.
May. 29th, 2007 01:32 pmit feels like i've lived three weeks since i last posted, rather than three days. traveling always seems to do that to me, as if i'm trying to pack A HUGE AMOUNT OF LIFE into each minute.
random cool stuff...
(a) Aaron was elected class speaker. Cathy and Steve kept it a secret from us until we were there, and indeed my brother didn't recognize our nephew on the podium and told Joey and i afterward that he was listening to the speech for about 20 seconds thinking "That sounds like Aaron... That can't be Aaron..."
graduation went off without a hitch, except it as really warm inside the auditorium where they held it. afterwards there was cake and presents, and it appears i will be taking my nephew on a Carousel Mall shopping spree in July. :)
(b) more Guitar Hero - including helping my nephew unlock a new graphic - and talking about anime. his favorite series right now is Naruto, but he also liked what he saw of Bleach; he missed the beginning episodes, and so didn't understand the plotline. it was weird to hear Aaron talking about Bleach because Greg and i were watching that series together before he passed. i found myself asking Aaron if he'd heard the closing song, and i started to sing it: "Nobody knows who I really am... I never felt... this empty before..."
this led to us jumping online and viewing a bunch of clips on YouTube.
(c) Bob took us all to see Pirates 3 after dinner Sunday night. anyone who's seen it - and knows me - probably won't be surprised by my saying i kept having to cover my eyes and/or turn my face away from the screen (Aaron gave me a strange look now and again: i suppose the violence barely registered on a teenage boy) and that i cried at the end.
(d) i drove all the way home from Ohio (7 hours) and although my mother kept trying to work the passenger-side brakes (the ones that don't exist?), my father fell asleep in the backseat for at least an hour or two of the trip.
