i decided to stay home for the Solstice, but it wasn't an easy choice. i always feel kind of torn between my various "family" groups, and i had such an incredible time last year at the Burrow.

but i was so tired last night... especially after i worked on my brother-in-law, my third massage of the day. what i intended to be a half-an-hour-at-most turned into over an hour of very slow, careful, deep work.

thing is, he could barely get off the table when i finished, and he said the pain was still there. this wasn't too surprising, as he's been feeling increasingly bad back pain for months now, but it was disheartening. i went to bed feeling pretty bummed.

today, however, he said it was a little better, and by this afternoon he cornered me during a heated game of Auction Pitch and said "OK, you've made me a believer. How do we set up a treatment schedule for this week, while I'm here? Do we do this again tonight?"

i explained that deep work isn't generally a daily thing, that you should allow a day or two in between to use heat and stretch the tissue, allow it to heal.

when we got home from dinner a few hours later, he turned to me and said "When you update your livejournal later, be sure to tell everyone that your brother-in-law hasn't felt this good, for this long, in a long, long, time."

so, there ya go.

*deep sigh of relief*

in between card games, massage, running, and eating lots of yummy cookies, i got to play Guitar Hero 3 with my nephew on my brother's wide-screen TV.

we created a band and played through four levels - including one of my favorite songs from The Killers - before my brother got home and said "Hey, do you guys know what time it is?"

um... no? ;)

dinner was OK, though going out for fried haddock isn't as much fun as it once was, given the whole vegetarian thing. *lol*

and yet, not an elf, according to this. )

i hope all those who are so inclined do their bit for world peace tomorrow, given it's Global Orgasm Day, again ironically coinciding with my natality.

i know i have a tentative plan. ;)
