it is odd, almost magical, when things you've always wanted to share with someone just start to happen, as if the two of you only required finding the other to have a chain of events begin to unfold.

i've always loved both reading out loud to people and being read to. yet it's not something that many of the people i've known have been as interested in, or, perhaps, as willing to share. i've never known someone so willing to read to me for pleasure, and to stumble upon someone else for whom it seems to be an unexpected pleasure is, well- an unexpected pleasure.

did i mention the pleasure? ;)

we started with Shakespeare's sonnets, when i was sick. and when he was sick, i read him Rapunzel, from the Brothers Grimm. a couple nights ago, i asked for Act II, Scene IV from Measure for Measure - which i've always wanted to read with somebody - and he obliged. and last night, i read him a few poems by Rumi... one poem of which i wanted to share with all of you.

--

A shout comes out of my room
where I've been cooped up.
After all my lust and dead living I can still live with you.
You want me to.
You fix and bring me food.
You forget the way I've been.

The ocean moves and surges in the heat
of the middle of the day,
in the heat of this thought I'm having.
Why aren't all human resistances burning up with this thought?

It's a drum and arms waving.
It's a bonfire at midnight on the top of a hill,
this meeting again with you.

I say anyone who enjoys reading to you is an absolute keeper. But I'll admit to having a lot of bias in that area, I think reading aloud to someone is one of the most intimate, sweet things a person can do. I've gotten warm and fuzzy just thinking about it (honestly).

What? Who are you seeing now? I can't keep up anymore.

But regardless here's to getting laid!

[Too much warm and fuzzy in this thread. I needed to bring it down a notch. You understand..]

*LOL*

i made a naughty icon, and i'm bringing it out just for you.

but... *blush* this is just the "getting to know one another" stage. none of that other stuff, yet.

probably. ;)

You know, I almost couldn't read the text at the bottom, but once I deciphered it, I laughed out loud.

Very appropriately naughty. :)

thank you! ;)

the text editor i used to add it to the graphic didn't make it very dark... and i wasn't sure how to darken it. but maybe being "less-than-obvious" isn't a bad thing. ;)

Reading aloud is one of those things that reminds me of childhood, and being tucked into bed by someone who loves you. But it's not something that I've had much opportunity to do. I'm trying to remember who it was (ex-boyfriend or ex-husband) that I read chapters of Winnie the Pooh to as a bedtime story over several nights? Dunno, but I remember doing it....

i'm trying to wonder why it doesn't remind me of childhood anymore. i'm not sure. perhaps because i read in church? but it's more serious for me, now. :)

and that "tucked into bed" thing has taken on a whole new meaning. ;)

you know - i think this is it. the surest way to my libido has always been through my brain, and it wouldn't surprise me to find out most women are like that. :)

I have always cherished the hours I have spent reading aloud, and being read to. Sounds like things are going well since last we spoke! That makes me happy!

yes. except for the not having been able to get together, the distance, the not knowing what is going on, and a few added complications.

still, for my part, it's more than worth exploring, working on, and... pursuing?

*blush* *grin*

thank you, love.
